Meet Wade Fenner
Real Estate Investor | Transaction Engineer
Helping Alberta homeowners get the monkey off their back for nearly 30 years.
It Started With Two Credit Cards, a Cell Phone, and a Bicycle.
My real estate career didn't begin with deep pockets or a family business.
It began after an epileptic seizure cost me my job and my driver's license.
I had been working for a high-rise development company in Vancouver when life took an unexpected turn. Instead of looking for another job, I packed my bags and moved to Calgary for a fresh start.
For the first couple of months I rode transit, looking at houses and trying to figure out what came next. Tired of waiting for buses, I bought a mountain bike.
A month later I bought my first investment property.
Nine days later I sold it and made $9,000.
That little bicycle launched a career that has now spanned nearly three decades.
I've Never Really Been in the House Business.
People assume I buy houses.
The truth is, I'm in the problem-solving business.
Over the years I've worked with inherited properties, foreclosures, probate, bankruptcies, difficult tenants, title issues, rundown rentals, aging parents, estates, and plenty of situations where everyone else simply walked away.
Those are usually my favourite conversations.
Friends have jokingly called me a transaction engineer for years because I enjoy untangling complicated situations and finding practical solutions that work for everyone involved.
Every property has a story.
My job is to understand it.
Getting the Monkey Off Your Back.
Most people don't wake up one morning excited to sell a house quickly.
Usually there's something much bigger going on.
Maybe it's an estate. Maybe it's a tenant who stopped paying rent. Maybe it's a divorce, a move, a property that's become too much to manage, or a family situation that's weighing heavily on everyone involved.
That's the monkey.
My approach has always been simple.
Listen first. Ask questions. Explain the options. Help people make a decision they feel comfortable with.
Sometimes that means buying the property. Sometimes it means pointing someone toward a realtor, lawyer, contractor, or another professional who is a better fit.
If I spend twenty minutes helping someone and never buy their house, that's still twenty minutes well spent.
Nearly 30 Years of Creative Real Estate.
- Completed approximately 150 real estate transactions
- Flipped more than 100 houses
- Owned more than 30 investment properties
- Worked directly with homeowners across Alberta
- Taught real estate investing through two-day workshops
- Mentored investors through open Q&A sessions and coaching
Still happiest sitting across a coffee table having an honest conversation about what's really going on.
Let's Start With a Conversation.
Real estate is about people long before it's about property.
Every house has a story, and every situation is different.
Sometimes the right answer is selling. Sometimes it's waiting. Sometimes it's talking to a lawyer, a realtor, a contractor, or another professional before making any decisions at all.
I've always believed that taking the time to understand someone's situation is never wasted.
If we meet and I can help, I'll tell you how. If someone else is better suited to help, I'll tell you that too.
After nearly 30 years in real estate, one thing hasn't changed:
The best deals start with honest conversations and people who trust each other.
So whether you're dealing with a difficult property, looking for investment opportunities, or simply trying to figure out your next step...
Tell me what's going on.
We'll take it from there.
